Sexual Dysfunction & Sexual Pain

If you’re experiencing pain/dysfunction with sex, you may have been told it’s “just in your head,” that you should “relax more,” or even that painful sex is normal. These messages will leave you feeling dismissed, alone or broken. This is a space where your sexual pain is taken seriously and your body’s wisdom is respected.

Sexual pain and dysfunction can look different for everyone. It may be pain with penetration (dyspareunia), vulva pain (vulvodynia), involuntary tightening of the pelvic muscles (vaginismus), difficulty reaching orgasm, feeling numb or detached during intimacy, or sex that simply doesn’t feel pleasurable.

These challenges can be your body’s way of protecting you, because pain is protective. Together, we can explore what your body is trying to tell us and find ways to move toward comfort, safety, and pleasure again. Because of my clinical background as an Occupational Therapist, am able to work alongside GPs, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists, and Gynaecologists to ensure your care is truly holistic and part of a broader multidisciplinary approach.

How I Can Help

My approach may be a good fit if:

  • You’re seeking support to reduce or resolve pain during intimacy and to feel more safe and connected in your body.

  • You’re tired of feeling anxious, tense, or detached during sex and want to experience pleasure that is safe, free and enjoyable.

  • You’d like to explore how stress, shame, past experiences, or cultural messages about sex might be shaping your body’s responses.

  • You value an approach that emphasises both the physical and emotional aspects of sexual wellbeing.

Your First Appointment

If you’re ready to begin, our first step is a chance to slow down, create safety together and get clear on what you’d like support with. Before we meet, I’ll send you a short questionnaire so I can understand your story in relation to sexual pain/dysfunction. This helps me prepare resources that are most relevant to you.

In our first session, we’ll talk through what is happening with your body/pelvis/genitals and the areas you’d like to see change, whether that’s pain with intimacy, difficulty with arousal or challenges around orgasm and pleasure. Together, we’ll set some clear goals and you’ll receive somatic practices to start incorporating in your life.

You’re welcome to book sessions one at a time, or we can look at a package if you’d like more ongoing, structured support.

How long are sessions?

An initial appointment is 1.5 hours, giving us the space to gather important background information and begin exploring your goals.

Follow-up appointments can be either 1 hour or 1.5 hours, depending on what feels most supportive for you at the time.

Where do sessions happen?

Most of my work happens online, which makes it easy to access support from your own space. I also offer face-to-face sessions on the Sunshine Coast upon request.
